WE'RE BUCKTHORN'S WORST NIGHTMARE

Buckthorn is invasive underbrush that can quickly take over your woods, crowding out the oaks, maples, and native growth you actually want. Left alone, it gets thicker, blocks access, and turns usable woods into a dense mess.

01

It Crowds Out the Trees You Want

Buckthorn grows thick and fast, taking over the space, sunlight, and room that oaks, maples, and native growth need to thrive.

02

You Lose Sight Lines and Access

Dense underbrush makes your woods harder to walk, hunt, maintain, and use. Before long, entire parts of the property can become practically inaccessible.

03

It Keeps Spreading

A small patch can quickly turn into acres of dense growth. The longer it sits, the more ground it takes over and the harder it becomes to manage.

04

Hand Cutting Cannot Keep Up on Acreage

Hand clearing can work for a small patch. On several acres of thick buckthorn, forestry equipment lets us clear efficiently while preserving the desirable trees you want to keep.

STOP LETTING BUCKTHORN RUN THE SHOW

Most of the calls we get start the same way. Someone bought forty acres, or inherited the family land, and the back half has been off limits for ten years.

WE ARE NOT THERE TO LEVEL YOUR WOODS. WE ARE THERE TO TAKE OUT WHAT DOES NOT BELONG AND LEAVE THE GOOD TREES ROOM TO GROW.

Forestry mulching works well on buckthorn because the stems are small, the growth is dense, and the debris is worth leaving on site. It is not the right tool for everything. Big stumps, dirt that needs to move, or a site that has to be cleared down to bare ground is excavation work, and we do that too.

WHAT THE WORK INVOLVES

HOW WE CLEAR BUCKTHORN

Every property gets walked before a machine moves. Here is what a typical buckthorn job looks like from the first visit to the last pass.

Step 01

Walk the Property

We look at density, terrain, wet spots, and which trees you want kept. You tell us what the land is for, whether it is hunting, pasture, a homesite, or just being able to use the woods.

Step 02

Mark What Stays

Mature hardwoods, apple trees, and anything else you want protected gets flagged before we start. Selective clearing only works if the plan is clear from the beginning.

Step 03

Mulch It Out

The mulcher takes down buckthorn and other invasive underbrush, grinds it into mulch, and leaves the material on site. No burn piles and no loads to haul away.

Step 04

Talk About Regrowth

Buckthorn can come back. Before we leave, we walk the property with you and explain what will help keep it under control, whether that is mowing, a follow-up pass, or stump treatment.

i

Straight talk on chemicals: mechanical clearing knocks buckthorn back hard, but on heavy infestations most landowners get the best long-term result by pairing it with stump or foliar treatment. We will tell you honestly what your property needs and what we do and do not handle.

THE TRANSformation speaks for itself

Real results from real Northwestern Wisconsin properties. Forestry mulching turns dense overgrowth into mulched, usable land in a single pass, no hauling, no burning.

YOUR QUESTIONS

Straight Answers

Anything not covered here, call and ask. You will get the owner, not a call center.

Will the Buckthorn Come Back?

Mulching is one of the best ways to reclaim heavily overgrown acreage and knock buckthorn back fast. Because buckthorn is aggressive, some regrowth can still happen over time. Long-term control may include mowing, follow-up clearing, stump treatment, herbicide application, or root removal depending on the property. We will walk the land with you and explain what makes the most sense for keeping it under control.

Can You Clear Buckthorn Without Taking My Good Trees?

Yes. That is most of what we do. We identify the trees you want to keep before we start and work around them, clearing the invasive underbrush while leaving desirable trees like oaks and maples standing.

How Many Acres a Day Can You Clear?

It depends on how thick the growth is, the terrain, and how selective the job needs to be. Light underbrush moves quickly, while dense walls of mature buckthorn take longer. Once we see the property, we can give you a realistic idea of how long the job will take.

What Happens to the Mulch?

It stays on the ground. The mulched material breaks down naturally over time, helps protect the soil, and means there are no brush piles to haul away or burn.

How Much Does Buckthorn Clearing Cost?

Cost depends on the acreage, how thick the buckthorn is, the terrain, access, and how selective the clearing needs to be. We do not throw out a per-acre number without seeing the property. The on-site quote is free and there is no obligation.

How Far Do You Travel?

We are based in Turtle Lake and work across Northwest Wisconsin, including the areas around Rice Lake, Menomonie, Chippewa Falls, and Eau Claire. If you are not sure whether you are in our service area, just give us a call.

READY TO GET YOUR WOODS BACK?

Tell us roughly how many acres you have and what you’re dealing with. We’ll come walk the property and give you a straightforward quote. Free, in person, no commitment.
